Data-driven partnership to deliver micro-location marketing in real-time
SYDNEY, Australia – November 20, 2014 – Teradata Corp (NYSE: TDC), the big data analytics and marketing applications company, today announced an Australia-based partnership with JLAB winner Localz, an Australian technology company providing micro-location experiences and iBeacon tools for enterprise.
Micro-location Marketing with iBeacons in Real-time
The partnership combines Teradata’s world-class Integrated Marketing Cloud solutions with Localz micro-location technology, to deliver real-time personalised content, direct to a customer’s mobile device, based on their known location in the real world.
Localz uses Apple's iBeacon standard and other Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE) beacons, together with more traditional positioning technologies – such as Wi-Fi, GPS, QR codes and near-field communication (NFC) – to calculate location among consumers willing to share such information. The technology can also be used to track campaign assets and carry out mobile payments.
Teradata’s Area Director for the Australian Marketing Applications team, Simon Bowker, said that partnering with Localz offers Teradata a unique opportunity to assist clients in gaining detailed insight into a customer’s journey through the sales cycle.
“We’re very excited to be partnering with Localz. Our world is no longer divided into online and offline and Localz enables us to capture data on customer behaviour in the real world, and provide customers with a seamless experience. It’s a great partnership for our customers and an example of our strategy to drive growth of our business in the Australian market,” commented Bowker.
“Partnering with Teradata is a great way for businesses to incorporate the latest micro-location technology into their existing marketing strategy to create truly relevant communication,” said Tim Andrew, Commercial Director and Co-Founder, Localz. “We’re excited to be adding a new dimension to Teradata’s proven, world-class marketing platform,” Andrew added.
Localz was founded by Pete Williams, Melvin Artemas and Tim Andrew in Melbourne, Australia in October 2013 to help enterprise customers take advantage of existing and emerging location technology. The business has grown rapidly through working with major retail, financial services and logistics brands initially in Australia and now in Europe where it has now established a permanent presence after winning John Lewis’ (Europe’s leading omni-channel retailer) JLAB competition.
