Localz is excited to be selected as one of nine teams in the Retail Week House of Fraser Hackathon. On 15th and 16th September the nine teams - consisting of retailers and tech start-ups - will have just 24 hours to simplify the multichannel shopping experience for customers.
Localz has a great history of success with hackathons – in fact the Localz business was born from a hackathon. The first hackathon the Localz team participated in, was a Samsung event. The solution created at the event sowed the seed for our current software platform, and from this seed Localz was born.
Ever since this exciting start, Localz has maintained an edge by doing a hackathon every six months. We won the inaugural JLAB incubator competition and are now part of the PayPal StartTank. Some of our best solutions have been created within 24 hours, when great minds align for a common goal. We already help retailers with their multi-channel approach - but want to use the hackathon to push the boundaries:
“In the last 24 months we have participated in three hackathons,” says Martijn Verbree, Europe Director, “which have all resulted in sustainable enterprise solutions. Following the first Samsung hackathon, we entered JLABs, the John Lewis technology incubator. We won JLABs 2014, which resulted in our time-saving Click&Collect solution. At our most recent hackathon we created MediPass, which is about to be rolled out across Australia.”
During our day job, Localz specialises in creating innovative scalable retail solutions by combining the latest in mobile and location technology. You can be sure you’ll see some innovation in this space from Localz at the Retail Week House of Fraser Hackathon.
